"Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
    blot out my transgressions."
Psalm 51:1 ESV

Show mercy. Take the time to notice who’s in line with you at the grocery store: who needs help putting something in their car, the child who’s wandering around crying and looking for their mom or dad. Really see the person walking along the side of the road with a gas can. The homeless person thirsting in the summer heat. Then do something. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

One of the great and beautiful paradoxes of our God is that He is justice and He is mercy.

And one of the great paradoxes of faith is that because of God's plan, we can step out in confident trust - but those same steps can be incredible risks.

What does it mean to know a personal God who is both just and merciful? To live a life that is both abundant and unknown?

Lord, help me to trust You in all things and to be an instrument of Your justice and Your mercy. Amen.
