“Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:6-7

I often feel like I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes plans come together to fruition, though not in the manner I had envisioned. Other times, I feel disillusioned at the end of the day; the canvas still looks blank, as though not a single stroke has been painted on the story of my life.

The book of James makes it clear that if we simply come to the Lord and ask for wisdom, He will grant it to us (James 1:5). In the busyness of life, it is time to wait and to seek His will and wisdom.

Often times, it is in the stillness that we get the answer. Wisdom comes because we genuinely ask and wait for it. The canvas is no longer empty. The painting is strikingly beautiful. The work is a masterpiece.

The Holy Spirit desires to direct our lives. He wants to work in conjunction with us. Making decisions in partnership with God is a beautiful dance: asking for wisdom, receiving wisdom, responding in faith, bringing God glory.

Will you dance?

Dear Lord, let us actually take the time to be still no matter how chaotic and busy our lives are. We desperately seek wisdom for our lives. May all we do and all we say be fruitful, wise, and God-inspired, amen.
