We are the hands and feet of Jesus here on the earth. As the Body of Christ, we have been called to be an example to those that do not know Christ. We have been commissioned to be a light in darkness and set apart to draw others into the Kingdom of God. But how exactly do we accomplish this?

In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus gives us a perfect illustration of how this should play out in our everyday lives. We are to feed the hungry, visit the sick, provide clothes and shelter for those that have none, and visit those that are incarcerated. When we take it upon ourselves to love through our actions in any of these ways, we faithfully represent Christ. When we meet the needs of others it glorifies God. All it takes is one random act of kindness to capture the attention of an individual that has lost hope.

Life can sometimes be too much to bear and, when it gets to this point, it is good to know that we have support. It is good to know that we have a place to find hope and reassurance. As representatives of Christ, we have an amazing privilege to plant seeds that will one day bloom into a harvest of new believers. We get to point them toward the safest person of all — Jesus.

I encourage you to be alert and attentive to those you cross paths with daily and seek out opportunities to be that beacon of Hope.

Lord, open our eyes to see those right around us that need a helping hand. May we be attentive and alert on all occasions, ready and willing to serve those in need. In Jesus name, Amen.
