“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

We get all kinds of invitations to go to this and to that. We accept some of them and pass over many others. But the greatest invitation in the history of the world doesn’t come in the mail. It is in the Bible.

We live in a weary and burdened world. The pressure of finances, relationships, and a face-paced schedule can drag us down. Almost everyone is weary and burdened about something.

Jesus invites us to be still in His presence. The more hassled we feel, the more we need communication with Him. He doesn’t want us to be wrapped in anxious knots, ignoring His gift of peace. He wants us to know that He is God and that He will be exalted among the nations.

It is so easy to get caught up in the world and race right by His presence. His peace is an inner treasure that grows within us when we trust Him. It is so easy to miss His invitation.

When you begin your day, begin it with Him and when your head hits the pillow at night, thank Him for His daily presence. In between, pause to speak His name and seek His presence in all activities and He will give you true rest.

Lord, I want to experience your presence in my life more each day. Open my eyes that I might seek and see your work in my life, that I might know true rest. Amen.
