“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” John 20:29

Decades, centuries, and a couple of millenniums have passed since Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. The evidence of what He did and what was done to Him is verifiable and real. In fact, there is so much evidence that some would say it takes more faith to be an atheist than to be a Christian.

I have had the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Jesus at Calvary. I’ve been in the Garden Tomb. I’ve knelt at the manger spot in Bethlehem. Such experiences gave me the sense that Jesus was a real person, who walked the earth so many years ago. But knowing Jesus is not just about knowing history.

Jesus is as real today as He ever was. As believers, we can relax in His everlasting arms. When our energy fails us, He is there to lift us up. His sufficiency is abundantly available to us as we pass through each day. He is intimately present. He is as real and as close to His people as He ever was. He is totally accessible to each of His people. Nothing can separate us from His presence.

When He cried out: “It is finished,” for us it was just beginning. It is through trust that we remain connected. He is the potter and we are the clay. He wants to mold us and make us after His ways.

Remember, He is in your midst and He rejoices over us when we trust and follow Him. He is real and He is here rejoicing over us with gladness.

Jesus, You are a great and mighty God, as real today in the lives of believers as You ever were. Help us to focus on You in all that we do. As we draw on Your power in our lives, give us the peace of Your presence, and help us to do everything for You. Amen.

Take Action

Ponder the presence of Jesus in your life, focusing not on the historical events of years gone by, but on His presence each day in your life. Know that He walks each path with you and wants to empower you with His presence in your life.
