The grave could not hold Jesus. He rose from the dead, just as God’s word said that he would do. That is such a dynamic truth that changes lives. The same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead is continually at work within us.

When we accepted Jesus as our personal Savior, it was a spiritual transaction. It was as though we literally died with Jesus, we were buried, and then God raised us up into newness of life through his power.

God’s resurrection power was released into Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heaven. He continues to work that same strength into us.

I like to picture it like a potter. He takes a lump of dry clay. Then he works water into the clay until it is moldable. That is how the Holy Spirit works God’s resurrection power into our lives. He empowers us to do what he has called us to do. It is not in our own strength. He is at work, energizing and creating within us the desire and ability to do what he has called us to do.

We were created to bring God glory through every aspect of our lives. We do this best when we yield to his resurrection power within us so that he can carry out his preordained purpose for our lives. He does the work. We believe and yield our hearts as willing vessels.

Father God, I thank you for saving me from a life of depravity. I was dead in my sins. Yet, when I accepted your gift of eternal life through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, you gave me new life. I desire to yield to your work so that I can glorify you now and throughout eternity. Amen.

Throughout This Day: Remind yourself often that Christ lives in you in all his resurrection power through the Spirit. Submit fully to his direction, knowing he is giving you all the resources you need to obey moment by moment, for his glory.
