I am glad that sometimes God does not give us children exactly like us. I wish I had the confidence of my kid, who just ate ZERO bites of his dinner and then asked my wife for a snack exactly three minutes after the table was cleared. I was the nerdy, quiet kid in school and I always lacked confidence. My parents often had to admonish me to “speak up”.
Think for a few minutes. What would you do for God if you knew you couldn’t fail? That is the kind of confidence he wants you to have when approaching him. But, that doesn't mean he will always say yes, just as my wife knew better than to say yes to my kid. Still he wants you to come to him so you can be open to receive his mercy and grace.
Charging full steam ahead without having the power of God behind you is just as foolish as a football-sized puppy chasing a car as it barks its head off. What are you going to do if you catch it? That is false confidence.
But, when you have the full weight of the power of God behind you, there is nothing that can stop you from achieving what God has planned for you. You will start doing things that you have never done before. You might not even recognize the person you will become, but you will be happy about it. That, I can say with the utmost confidence.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for having my back and giving me the confidence to declare mighty things in your name. Help me to remember daily that you are stronger than anything I face. In Jesus’ name, amen.
