God says in Hosea 4:6a, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Unless we know something, we can’t do it. However, what if we know what to do but we still don’t act? We won’t get the result we need.

I’ve been feeling a bit of muscle strain after long hours at the computer. I have a standing desk. It’s adjustable. It can ease this situation. So, I can sit at that desk or I can elevate it and stand at my computer while I use my keyboard. It’s handy and effective to ease and prevent this aching, provided I do what I know.

I prayed about it. In prayer, I received guidance to do an exercise to fire those glutes. I was even shown the exact exercise. I did it and it worked. However, it’s easy to forget to address those muscles while working out as well as use my standing desk properly.

Do you see how important it is to do what we know?

When God wanted to restore Israel’s spiritual life, he illustrated how to do this with the power of words. God took Ezekiel through an experience in the Spirit, showing him how to speak to dry bones and bring them to life. Not only did Ezekiel do what God asked, but he had to persist until he succeeded.

You can bring life to your adverse situation, too. It’s not what you know but what you do.

God, so often I know what I should be doing to exercise my faith, but I just don’t follow through. Guide me to stretch my faith-muscles and firm up my spiritual life instead of keeping on the way I am. Amen.
