“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

“Please Daddy, just one more ride,” my two small children said as we were about to exit the theme park. I knew they would be asleep before we got out of the parking lot, but I had a long drive home and I was in no mood to delay our departure. But I gave in and told them 10 more minutes. And of course we did one more ride.

Little did I know that about that time there was a terrible crash on the Interstate, killing multiple people, including an entire family. As we drove around the pile of twisted metal, I thought about those 10 extra minutes in the park. They could have saved our lives.

I believe Jesus called me through the voices of my children. He can do that. In fact, He calls us in many ways: through others, through nature, through preaching, and most importantly through His Word.

The problem is not in His calling, but in our hearing and listening. We need to be more attuned to His calling. He is everywhere and in everything. He wants to guide every aspect of our lives each day.

The best way to hear Jesus is to be in His Word daily and to listen for His voice. It is not necessarily an audible voice, but a guiding feeling you get deep down in your inner being.

We have to be tuned in to turn our minds on Jesus. We can’t hear Him when our minds are elsewhere. When we listen, we will hear His call.

Lord, I want to hear You more, love You more, and have You guide my every step. Help me to be more attentive to Your voice and follow Your directions in every step I take. Amen.

Take Action

Are you listening and looking for Jesus? Keep your mind tuned to Him and He will direct your path. Call on Him. As His Word says: Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” Jeremiah 33:3.
