He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

We live in a fast world. Literally. People are constantly on the move. Now, intercontinental flight is a common daily occurrence. It makes you wonder where people are going and why they’re going there.

Jesus had things to say about going places. He said to go preach the Gospel. Acts 22:15 reminds us to “be His witness to all people of what you have seen and heard.”

It has been said that everyone is a witness, either for the prosecution or the defense. Even saying nothing is a witness. Often our conduct is more of a witness that anything we say.

A witness is someone who attests to a truth. So in order to be an effective witness for Christ, one must have firsthand knowledge of Him. John the Apostle speaks of this in 1 John 1:1-3, when he says, “That… which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at, and our hands have touched — this we proclaim concerning the Word of Life.”

Today, we who have experienced new life in Christ must give an account of His love and forgiveness, both verbally and in the way we live our lives. This is witnessing.

As Christians, we must ask ourselves how effective are we in witnessing to others the Good News of Jesus. Let us not move so fast that we fail to stop and share Jesus with others we meet.

Lord, I know I am not the witness I should be. Help me to be equipped and bold and witness for You in all that I say and do. Amen.

Take Action

Take some time today to reflect on how serious are you about spreading the good news of Jesus. Are you a witness for Him in all you say and do? If not, think about one thing you can change today so that you can share Jesus with others.
