“As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” James 5:11

“Lord, give us what we want.”

In the Christian life, we often believe the myth that God will continually bless us the way we want to be blessed. That we will be healthy, wealthy, and happy until we die. But that’s just not the case; in fact, the Bible states the exact opposite. Trials won’t just happen to us sporadically. We’re actually destined for them.

But, as James says, when we persevere through these trials, we will be counted as blessed. So discipline yourself with perseverance. Turn to Him in the low places, and you will be counted as blessed.

So remember that the Lord is our comforter in times of devastation, He is full of compassion and mercy.

Just look at Job. May we persevere and give glory to God, whether it’s the best or worst day of our lives.

Dear God, help us to turn to You in the hard times and to remember You in the good times. Give us the faith to persevere, and help us to give You glory in all times and in all seasons of life. We love You and we trust You. Amen.
