I love the Mission Impossible movies. But up till now, Ethan Hunt has survived every single mission. They need to change the title to Mission Possible. He always wins. And as the movie watcher, I know it’s going to happen and yet I am still on the edge of my seat to see how he does it.

That is how God is in our lives. He is undefeated. He is 99-0. Multiple championships. A dynasty that never ends. Then why are we still anxious or afraid when bad things rear their ugly heads? My grandmother told me “God is in control”, my mother told me the same thing. I believe them, but I am 40 years old, and I still worry that I will lose my job or cannot take care of my family. I know he is going to save the day, but I am still sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see how he is going to do it. He never disappoints. He may not come when I want him, but he will be there right on time.

I worry about the boroughs of New York. There are like 13 superheroes for every one and still little old ladies are mugged regularly. Yet those heroes still find a way to win. It’s like that with God. Bad things may happen all around us, but trust me, in the end HE WILL WIN.

If he hasn’t won in your life yet then don’t worry, it’s not the end.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being my rock, my sword, and my shield. Every day I look to you for help, grace and mercy. And every day you show up and show me that you are God and God alone. Please help me to remember to extend your grace and mercy to everyone I come across so that they can also know you as their mighty defender. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Throughout This Day: Reflect on the various ways that God has shown himself to be mighty to save in your life and that of others around you.
