He wasn’t supposed to be here! And yet, there he lay, in a wicker laundry basket under my parents’ Christmas Tree. Just 6 weeks old, a tiny sleeping baby that somehow made Christmas come alive for all of us and would make that Christmas our most memorable for decades to come.

He wasn’t supposed to be here! Yet, after an earlier miscarriage, months of ongoing issues, and several medical procedures, here he was, delivered full-term. I had been pregnant and God had miraculously protected that tiny life. My doctors and all the medical professionals had to agree — he was a miracle.

Just like the baby in the manger, God had miraculously intervened and given life. Just like Jesus came into Joseph and Mary’s life that Christmas Eve, we had this tiny newborn that wasn’t supposed to live. And just like Joseph and Mary, we were astonished by the wonder of God’s miraculous power and intervention in our lives.

With God, nothing is impossible.

Heavenly Father, thank you that you still perform miracles today! Help me to trust you with those things in my life that seem so overwhelming, especially the loved ones that need to be introduced to you. During this advent season, help me to remember to keep my eyes on you and remember that nothing is impossible for you. Amen.

Throughout This Day: How about you? Do you need a miracle in your life? As you rush around trying to finish off the last of the Christmas to-do list, where do you need God to show up? Will you invite him to miraculously intervene in your life today?
