"and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 1:19–20

The Bible often speaks about power, and the New Testament specifically highlights the power of the Holy Spirit within us. But how can we measure the power of God in us?

Paul tells us how. He assures us that the power within us is the same power that was able to raise a dead person from the grave and propel Him into heaven. Now that’s a lot of power!

Maybe you feel like the same bad habits and unhealthy desires will plague you for the rest of your life. There is no promise that your struggle will go away entirely, but the truth of the Spirit’s indwelling presence gives us great hope.

It means that failure in our past does not guarantee failure in our future. It gives hope to the Christian who is cultivating spiritual disciplines and has not yet seen victory in certain areas. Victory is coming! We can get up from our failures again and again, with hope that we will be changed.

And finally, it means that one day we will dwell with our Heavenly Father forever when the power within us raises us from the dead as it did Christ.

Father, I thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit that works within us. Please fill me today anew so I can experience the change that I long to see in myself for my good, and for Your glory, amen.
