“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Romans 8:35

Our helicopter landed on the glacier and we carefully walked along the surface. When we came to a crevice, our guide said to be careful, as it was hundreds of feet down. But with the narrow width, we were able to easily step to the other side.

Our guide said the glacier was beginning to calf and that the crevice would widen more than a foot per day until the seaward part would crash into Glacier Bay.

Sin is like that. The more we sin, the greater the divide between us and our heavenly Father. But unlike the glacier that is destined to widen the gap and self destruct, we have the option to reach the other side; the hand of our loving God is outstretched to help us safely to the other side.

Because Jesus paid for the passage across, surrendering our life to Him is the only way to be saved from a self destructive and sinful lifestyle. Once we are joined to Jesus, nothing can separate us from eternity with Him.

Lord Jesus, thank You so much for bridging the gap created by our sin. You continue to reach out to us everyday, offering greater freedom and intimacy with You. I choose to live my life for You today; help me turn away from any sins that have clouded my vision of You. Amen.
