Isn't a new baby one of the greatest joys?
Babies give us such hope. You're filled with sentimentality and are compelled to slow down when someone hands you a newborn. Just try to talk to an infant without lowering your voice, and being hypnotized by those tiny toes. Without being consumed by love.
Never has a baby brought such hope, though, since the Incarnation.
If we really let the coming of the child Jesus affect us, imagine the gentleness and love and hope that would saturate our lives this season!
Lord, help me to be captivated by the mystery of the Incarnation. Amen.
