Have you ever experienced an unexpected power outage and been left in the dark? In today’s world of electrical light sources, many have experienced an unexpected plunge into darkness. They flounder, fumble, and sometimes, stumble through shadows and over obstacles to find a dependable, and trustworthy candle or flashlight to guide them to safety.

Similarly, as believers in a fallen world, we need to journey through life fully aware of the artificial light sources that lure and snare us into compromising our faith walk. Remember, Satan disguises himself in counterfeit light. If we choose to navigate this present darkness using artificial light, we will surely stumble and fall. Scripture assures us that God’s Word “is a lamp for [our] feet, a light on [our] path” (Psalm 119:5).

In this present darkness, choosing to follow Jesus faithfully is a challenging but necessary choice. Navigating life is difficult, but His light consumes darkness. If we faithfully follow Jesus, He promises that we “will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Are you faithfully walking in His light?

Dear Heavenly Father, protect me from the lures and snares of the enemy. Help me to discern Your light and will in my life. Help me to serve You faithfully and to be Your witness within my sphere of influence. Amen.
