“You won’t even have to fight. Just take your positions and watch the Lord rescue you from the enemy.  Don’t be afraid.  Just do as you’re told. And as you march out tomorrow, the Lord will be there with you. 2 Chronicles 20:17 (CEV)

Fighting is often viewed negatively, but it can also be very good. We fight for our rights, fight to keep healthy, and we strive to be a better employee, family member, and soldier for Jesus.

The Israelites were afraid. The enemy was attacking to take the land God had promised the Israelites generations beforehand. It was a fight for their lives and for future generations.

What happens when we feel like we can’t do it anymore?

There was a time I felt totally defeated and had lost energy to fight. The battle I was trying to fight and gain victory in was slipping away. The fight was too big and I couldn’t do it alone. My marriage had failed and single motherhood seemed daunting. I, too, was afraid.

“You won’t even have to fight. Just take your positions and watch the Lord rescue you from the enemy.  Don’t be afraid.  Just do as you’re told.”

Your burdens may be keeping you up at night. Maybe you’re facing a health issue or your job is not fulfilling; it just pays the bills. This verse gave me hope as God helped me to fight when I could barely stand. Just like the Israelites, we need to do our part, but we need to allow God to lead our battles. I fasted, prayed, asked God for wisdom, and continued to trust Him. He graciously brought people into my life to stand with me.

God will fight for us as we stand and take our positions, trusting Him.

Father God in Heaven, thank You that You fight our battles. When we are weary, You tell us to take our positions and that You will help rescue us. Give us courage and strength as we fight to be obedient and trust You to take care of us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
