“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

It’s not only knowing the truth of Scripture, it’s trusting the truth of Scripture and the God of the Scriptures that will open the door for God to work on our behalf. If a task is required of us, based on His Word, God will give us the ability to do what is needed. He will direct our paths.

One year when I was working as the summer school coordinator at my school, I was required to create a schedule for all the other teachers. I racked my brain for hours trying to develop a schedule that included all the teachers and covered all the required classes. I couldn’t do it. Finally in frustration I prayed, reminding myself of this Scripture. I asked God to give me the wisdom I needed to draw up the schedule. Once I released it to Him with confidence that He would do what He promised in His Word, in a matter of minutes I had completed the schedule with all areas covered.

God hasn’t always given me direction that quickly. There have been times He has delayed His direction in order to develop perseverance in me. But, as I continue to seek His guidance and acknowledge my dependence on Him against the clamor of the world or my own impatient heart, He has always provided the guidance I need.  He may currently be doing the same in your situation. If so, persevere! As He has promised, He will direct your paths.

God, help us to acknowledge our dependence on You and to be wise enough to seek Your guidance, moment by moment! Amen.

Take Action

Let Mathew 7:7-8 encourage you to persevere as you seek God’s direction: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
