“Jude… to those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ. Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” Jude 1

Isabel Allende, widely known as the world’s most widely read Spanish-language author, once observed “You are the storyteller of your own life, and you can create your own legend or not.”

Every day we write a new page of our life story. Our story’s length is in God’s hands, but in ours is the capacity to shape what is written on each page.

What is the life story of a Christian believer? What should be written on the pages about a person who follows Jesus Christ? Jude gives us some clues to the answer. The followers of Jesus can write a story of how they were called, kept, and blessed.

We are called to belong to Christ. Leadership scholar Howard Gardner explains that every person has a personal story that helps them to “think about and feel who they are, where they come from, and where they are headed.” As believers we know who we are. We have come from God and are heading into a future with Christ.

We are being “kept for Jesus Christ,” guided and guarded every day toward a future with Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23). On this journey we experience His great mercy, peace, and love. These are ours in abundance!

Lord, give me the strength today to partner with You in writing a wonderful new page in the story of my life — a page that honors You and makes You known to others. Amen.
