When my mum sends me a care package, she is the very definition of thorough. I always find my mailing address written on all 6 sides of a box that has been wrapped in what must be a full roll of packing tape.

I know when I see that meticulously labelled box that my mum has taken every measure to ensure that I receive a treasure that will delight me.

You should see how fast the scissors fly when I arrive home from the mailbox across the street. Her packages always remind me that I am uniquely loved and that she knows me well.

I can’t imagine leaving a gift unopened and unexplored: but I’m reminded of the treasure Jesus has given me, and I realize that his is a gift I have often left taped up.

As you watch the video, does the story sound familiar?

Why on earth wouldn’t we unwrap and enjoy the gift that God — who knows us better than any friend — has given us?

His gift is so easily unwrapped; and the more we use it, the better it gets. The more we share the treasure with others, the deeper our own joy will become.

This treasure Jesus has entrusted to us is the abundant life: I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10 ESV).

Have you allowed Jesus to direct your life as expressed in the prayer below? Our words are only important if we really mean them, so take a few minutes to reflect on what The Life Commitment means to you.

Dear Jesus, I want you in the center of my life and commit to serve and obey you in your power. Anytime. Anywhere. At any cost. To do anything.

Take a few minutes to write down your thoughts. What stands out to you the most when you read this?

Consider contacting one of our mentors using the form below to talk about this renewed commitment to Christ.

If you invite him to do so, Jesus will radically transform your life into one of abundance — a life that looks like his.
